Dectective St. Shawn Maples, one of the first rescue workers to arrive on the scene, heard cries coming from the truck and house and proceeded to dig through the debris. A driver was stuck between the wheels of the trunk, as it was flipped on its side. The driver was pulled out to safety "in a heartbeat while the truck went up in flames", according to Maples.
Ruben Sharma, a resident of a home that was destroyed in the fire said, "first, I thought it was a major earthquake. This is unbelievable."
The San Jose man whose name was not releases, broke both of his legs in the crash and is listed in serious, but stable condition at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.
Look up "havoc" -- I think it's the wrong word here.
ReplyDeleteAlso, your lead is too long. Your lead should be one sentence, no more than 35 words. Pick out the most important information (the information that would have the most impact on your readers) for your lead.
"Injuring several amounts of people"? People don't come in "amounts." The only person you really know was injured is the truck driver ... so tell me that, in a later paragraph.
Last paragraph: You haven't made it clear that the San Jose man is the driver of the truck.
